BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Marshall University men's soccer team dropped a hard fought contest, 2-0, to the UAB Blazers in the Thundering Herd's regular-season finale, and now needs help to qualify for the post-season tournament.

The Herd (9-5-4, 3-4-1 C-USA) allowed two second half goals, one by Mladen Lemez in the 60th minute off a header from a corner kick, and a penalty kick by Babayele Sodade in the 88th minute.

UAB clinched a playoff berth in the six-team Conference USA Tournament with the win, and now the Herd needs help from UCF to claim the sixth and final spot in the tournament.

MU and Tulsa are tied with 10 points apiece and TU concludes its season at UCF on Friday night. A Tulsa win or a tie can secure a post-season spot for the Golden Hurricane. Tulsa needs to lose by at least two goals for the Herd to have any chance to qualify as TU is +3 in conference goal differential, while Marshall is +1.

If MU does qualify for the tournament, it will be the 6th seed and will play either South Carolina or Kentucky in the first round which is next Wednesday, Nov.10.
