HUNTINGTON, W.VA. - Marshall Women's Basketball is still looking for their first win on the road as they travel to Morehead State University this Wednesday to take on the Eagles at 2:00 p.m. ET. The game will be the 45th meeting between the two programs in the all-time series.
Marshall enters the game with a 1-2 record for the season after most recently taking a 68-56 loss to Ohio this past Sunday.
The Herd is led by newcomers Jasmine Shaw and Shynisha Johnson. Both junior college transfers lead the team in points per game with 10 each. On the boards, Erica Woods averages 6.3 a game and is closely followed by Leandra King with 5.7 per game.
Defensively, freshman Victoria Wells has collected nine steals in the three games marking her 6th in Conference USA, while Alyse Poindexter has blocked five shots and King adds four block shots to the mix as well.
The Eagles enter the game 1-2 after taking losses to No. 15 Kentucky and Kent State. Morehead State's lone win was a 62-57 victory over Ohio on November 13. The Eagles are led in points by senior guard, Linda Dixon. Dixon has combined for 53 points and is closely followed by fellow senior guard, Courtney Lumpkin with 50 points.
Ashar Harris is a force on the boards for Morehead State, totaling a team-high 41 rebounds and 13.7 rebounds per game. On defense, Dixon also leads the team in blocks with five and has seven steals. Tyler Ituen claims the most steals on the team with eight.
