HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall sophomore guard DeAndre Kane was named to the NABC All-District 11 First Team on Wednesday.
The Pittsburgh, Pa. native led the Thundering Herd in scoring with 16.5 points per game. He showed his all-around game this season by averaging 5.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Kane also led the team in steals with 47 while helping the team to a 21-14 record and its first bid to the National Invitation Tournament in 24 years.
Kane was joined on the first team by Will Barton (Memphis), Cameron Moore (UAB), Jordan Clarkson (Tulsa) and Keith Clanton (UCF). The second team included Neil Watson (Southern Mississippi), Arsalan Kazemi (Rice), Miguel Paul (East Carolina), Robert Nyakundi (SMU) and LaShay Page (Southern Mississippi).
The award was voted on by members of the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Coaches were only allowed to vote on players from their own district.
Kane has already been named to the All- Conference USA Second Team as well as the all-tournament team.
