HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall races again Saturday at the Cross Country Only National Invitational in Mechanicsville, Va.

A full recap and results will be available following the meet on

The meet takes place at Pole Green Park in Mechanicville, Va., which is just northeast of Richmond. The course is the site of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships.

Men will compete in an 8k, while the women's race will be a 5k.

Junior Andrea Porter finished 27th at the Greater Louisville Classic, leading the women's team with a run of 18:30.46, the team's fastest time of the year.

The men's team was led by freshman Nick Schmidt (Davison, Mich.) who placed 69th with a run of 26:12.97.

Assistant coach Caleb Bowen on the meet:

"This meet is a unique opportunity for us to see how good we are compared to programs like ours that don't sponsor men's track and field. I really like going to this meet because it offers a championship setting which will help prepare us for the intensity of the C-USA Championships. Also, the course is first class."

"On the men's side, our main rival is Richmond. They have a really good team, so if we can go out and hang with them, I see us doing well. I expect Seniors Jordan Brown Stobbe and Tyler Salmons to step up and run to their potential this week along with the freshman duo Nick Schmidt and Daniel Green."

"Now I'm really excited about the women's race this weekend. I believe this is one of the best groups we've had for a while and they are all hungry to run well. Because of how well they've been working out, I wouldn't be surprised if they all had breakout races at this meet."
