HUNTINGTON, W.Va. ââ'¬" The Marshall men's soccer team (4-8-0, 0-5 C-USA) will host the New Mexico Lobos (7-4-2, 1-3-0 C-USA) Friday at 7 p.m. at Hoops Family Field at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex.

The game is part of Marshall's Homecoming 2015 celebration and is also Big Green Night. Big Green members can show their membership card for $1 admission and a $1 select concessions menu.

Marshall has only four games remaining in 2015. The Herd starts a three-game homestand Friday with the New Mexico game. The home schedule will be completed next week, with a game against Shawnee State on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. and then senior night on Saturday, Oct. 31 against UAB. Marshall concludes its season on Nov. 7 at Old Dominion.

Even though it currently stands in ninth place, the Herd still has a chance to make the 2015 Conference USA Championship hosted by Charlotte.

The top seven teams make the tournament, with the No. 1 seed receiving a bye to the semifinals. The top five teams (Kentucky, South Carolina, Charlotte, Old Dominion and FIU) have already clinched, which leaves two spots for the remaining four teams. The three teams ahead of Marshall (New Mexico, UAB and Florida Atlantic) each have only three points, or one win. With three Conference USA games remaining and home matches against New Mexico and UAB, the Herd still has a shot to force its way into the field.

Coach Bob Gray on the match:

"It's no doubt that we're glad to be home for the next three matches. That excites me, because we've been road warriors."

"Now, we've got to put up or shut up, because our backs are really against the wall. New Mexico is a perennial stronghold and one of the best teams in the nation. We were able to beat them at their place last year, so I'm sure they've got that in the back of their minds, but the bottom line is we've got to win at least two of our three next Conference USA matches to get a shot at the conference tournament."

New Mexico is 7-4-2 and 1-3-0 in Conference USA. The Lobos are 2-2-1 in their last three games, including a 3-2 come-from-behind victory against UAB.

Chris Wehan's nine goals rank No. 12 in NCAA Division I and No. 1 in Conference USA. Coach Jeremy Fishbein is in his 14th season with the program.

Last season, Marshall defeated New Mexico (then ranked No. 15) on the road in Albuquerque 2-1, with goals from juniors Trevor Starcher and Daniel Jodah.
