ATHENS, Ohio --
An 8th inning, four-run rally pushed Ohio (13-9) ahead of Marshall baseball (7-16) Wednesday night, as the Herd fell 11-8 at Bob Wren Stadium in Athens, Ohio.

Senior Sergio Leon (Miami) hit his first career grand slam in a 2-for-5, five RBI day, and junior DJ Gee (Seattle) also collected two hits in the loss. Sophomore Corey Bird (Pinch, W.Va.) and junior Robert Fajardo (Miami) each scored twice.

Ohio attacked first, scoring three times in the bottom of the 1st to take the early lead. Marshall responded in the top of the 3rd, crossing the plate five times.

The Bobcats replied with two runs, tying the game at 5 all. Marshall then scored three more runs in the 4th, going up 8-5. Ohio then chipped away at the lead, plating one run in each the 4th and 5th innings.

In the bottom of the 8th, a one out walk to the Bobcats started a chain of events. Another walk, a hit-by-pitch, and a fielder's choice tied the game at eight runs apiece. After an intentional walk, a triple down off the center field wall brought home three more Ohio runs, giving them the ultimately final lead at 11-8.

Marshall will welcome FIU for its Appalachian Power Park opener this weekend, beginning Friday, March 27 at 6 p.m. in Charleston.
