HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall volleyball hits the road this weekend as it travels to North Texas on Friday at 8 p.m. (ET), and then will head to Charlotte on Sunday at 1 p.m.
HAVE YOU HERD?
Marshall clinched its fifth straight trip to the Conference USA Tournament this past Sunday with a 3-1 win over Florida Atlantic. The victory improved the Herd to an 18-7 overall record and 7-3 in C-USA, while snapping FAU's eight-match win streak. Marshall is currently tied for fourth place with UTSA and Southern Miss.
Freshman Madelyn Cole earned her first C-USA Freshman of the Week honor on Monday. Cole was the only setter against FAU and delivered with 55 assists. Cole's 55 assists were the second most in a four-set match this season and tied for third most in a league match. The Dallas native added a combined 16 digs and five blocks against FAU and WKU. This season, she leads the Herd with 543 assists, averaging 6.24 per set. She is fifth on the team in kills with 115 and third for digs with 172.
Seniors Allie Kellerman, Ally Kiekover and freshman Madison Hill rank nationally in three categories. Kellerman ranks 79th (4.52) for digs per set and 87th (407) for total digs. Hill and Kiekover rank fifth (.437) and 82nd (.350) for hitting percentage, respectively.
SCOUTING THE MEAN GREEN
North Texas enters Friday's match with an 11-14 overall record and 5-5 in C-USA play. The Mean Green has picked up conference wins over FIU, Louisiana Tech, UAB, UTEP and Charlotte. The all-time series between the Herd and Mean Green is tied at 2-2.
North Texas has been paced on offense by a trio of players with at least 200 kills. Amanda Chamberlain leads the way with 259 kills, while Holly Milam has 217 and Alexis Wright has 215. Karley York has a team-high 687 assists. York ranks 10th in C-USA with 7.39 assists per set.
SCOUTING THE 49ERS
This will be the second meeting between Marshall and Charlotte (7-19, 1-9 C-USA) this season. The Thundering Herd defeated the 49ers in three sets (25-17, 25-19, 25-15). This past weekend, Charlotte was swept at Southern Miss and Rice. The 'Niners are on a five match losing streak.
Charlotte has been led by the duo of Janell Sparks and Molly Shaw on offense. Sparks leads the 'Niners with 230 kills, while Shaw follows with 215. Sofie Perrens has a team-high 492 assists and Shelby Green has 393 digs.
Due to Charlotte hosting the 2016 C-USA Women's Soccer Tournament, there will be no live video offered for Sunday's match.

Marshall will host Senior Day on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. against the UTEP Miners inside the Cam Henderson Center. The Herd will celebrate the careers of seniors Allie Kellerman, Ally Kiekover, Taylor Riedel and Cassie Weaver.
