WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Marshall track and field team completed the Wake Forest Open Saturday in Winston-Salem.
The Herd claimed a win in the long jump. Junior Karena Folks out-leaped the field in the long jump, with a jump of 5.34 meters.
The team of Kametra Byrd, Shanice Johnson, Asia Bange and Hope Julmiste finished second in the 4x100 relay, with a time of 47.30 seconds.
Junior Andrea Porter placed 13th in the 1,500 meter run, section B (4:53.08).
In other field events, freshman Heidi Heiniger placed seventh in the javelin throw in her first collegiate event, with a throw of 40.05 meters. Fellow freshman Elena Marchand finished ninth in the discus throw (41.62m), while Allie Perry tied for fourth in the pole vault B-Section (3.17m).
"Despite weather conditions changed from sunny and warm to rainy and cold, we had another good day," Marshall coach Jeff Small said. "Props to Karena Fulks on winning the long jump and our 4x100 meter relay finished runner-up as well as Naja Greer in the 200 meter dash."
