FORT MYERS, Fla. - Marshall freshman Ylva Forslund (Vreta Kloster, Sweden) tied her career-best round on the second day of the C-USA Women's Golf Championship at Verandah Club, Tuesday.

Forslund fired her low round of 2-over-par 74 for the fifth time in her young career, and for the first time since the Kiawah Island Classic on March 1. She moved up eight spots to reach the top 10, tying for ninth at 6-over 150 with 18 holes remaining. Joey Walz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Leigha Holt (Holly Springs, N.C.) also carded improvements, shaving a combined 17 strokes off their Day 1 scores.

The Herd bettered by three strokes and moved up to seventh place at 615, heading into the final round.

No. 54 Middle Tennessee retained the lead, matching its Day 1 score to total 592, one stroke ahead of Old Dominion. ODU's Sana Tufail shot a 3-under 69 to take over the individual lead at 1-under 143, one stroke ahead of defending champion Meghan MacLaren of FIU and Middle Tennessee's Hanley Long.

Quotes from head coach Tiffany Prats:

On Ylva Forslund:
"Ylva is playing well this week. It has been a fun week for her with her parents coming all the way from Sweden to watch her first conference tournament. I look for her to continue playing solid golf tomorrow, and maybe be a little more aggressive on certain parts of the course. She has it in her to shoot a low number."

On what needs to change before the final round
"As for the team, the last four holes on our back nine [the front nine] have proven to be our weakness. We will go back to the drawing board and try to attack those holes differently. We have to go out and continue to play our first 14 the same way and then close the door on the end of the round."

T9 - Ylva Forslund (76-74=150, +6)
27 - Sarfina Seretharan (76-79=155, +11)
T28 - Pimrawee Huang (75-81=156, +12)
T33 - Joey Walz (82-75=157, +13)
51 - Leigha Holt (88-78=166, +22)

The Herd will complete the tournament with a final 18-hole round on Wednesday. For all the latest information about Marshall women's golf, follow @HerdMWGolf on Twitter.
