Record Numbers Force Closing of Marshall Sweetheart Clinic Registration

Jan. 17, 2017

-- The Marshall University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will host the 20th Annual Sweetheart Clinic on Saturday, February 4. ***Due to what is expected to be a record turnout for the event, registration is now closed.***

The Sweetheart Clinic began in 1998 in recognition of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Since its inception, nearly 2,500 girls have participated and had the opportunity to learn developmental skills in nine women's sports. Each year the Sweetheart Clinic is made possible through loyal partners, who have a true appreciation for The Herd and the National Girls and Women in Sports Day event. Marshall Athletics would like to thank Marshall Health, Marshall OBGYN, Marshall Orthopedics, Marshall Pediatrics, Fat Patty's, Papa Johns, for helping to make the 20th annual Sweetheart Clinic a possibility this year.
Participants will be divided into age groups and will rotate through nine different stations, learning developmental sports skills from each of the Marshall's women's sports coaches and student-athletes. In addition to developmental skill instruction, participants will receive a free t-shirt.
Check-in for participants will last 9:00 to 9:20 a.m. in Chris Cline Athletic Complex Indoor Athletic Facility. The Clinic will begin promptly at 9:20 a.m. Following the Clinic, participants will enjoy a pizza party and a Marshall University Cheerleaders-led pep rally in the Cam Henderson Center. Participants will then be invited to join us with free admission into the Marshall women's basketball game versus Louisiana Tech at 1 p.m. in the Cam Henderson Center.
The Clinic, including pizza party, pep rally and the women's basketball game, is free to participants. Sweetheart Clinic family members and observers may purchase a ticket to the women's basketball game at the Clinic for $3.
