The Herd is coming off of a successful meet last weekend at the Akron Invitational. Senior Andrea Porter and junior Barkley Castro won their respective competition divisions. Porter won the blue division 3000m run with a time of 10:14.85, and Castro won the blue division one mile run with a time of 5:07.42.
Additionally, the 4x400 meter relay team just missed breaking the school record. The team of Christianna Dogan, Safiyyah Mitchell, Breanna Hargrove, and Danere'a White finished second with a time of 3:47.74.
"We're excited for the meet," meet director and assistant coach Travis Coleman said. "Over the years, the Chipotle Marshall Invitational has grown to be the size of originally what the Thundering Herd Invitational was, which speaks volumes for how this meet has gone. There are some new teams coming in so it will be very competitive, especially on the distance side. There is some solid competition all around at this meet which is good with conferences just a week away."
