@Herd_Tennis Concludes Regular Season with Trip to Texas

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall women's tennis team wraps up its regular season this weekend with a pair of matches in Houston. The Herd will play USF Saturday at 11 a.m. and Conference USA foe Rice Sunday at 11 a.m.

HAVE YOU HERD?
Marshall is 12-8 this season following a sweep of a day-night doubleheader against Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia State on Apr. 2. The Herd defeated EKU on the road, 4-1, before returning home to defeat West Virginia State on senior night, 7-0. The Herd is led by Derya Turhan, who has compiled a 16-3 singles record playing at the No. 1 spot. Stephanie Smith and Maddie Silver are 12-4 and 14-5, respectively. Smith and Daniela Dankanych are the Herd's top doubles pairing with a 9-4 record at the No. 3 spot. Turhan and Anna Pomyatinskaya are 8-4 at the No. 1 spot. Silver and Rachael Morales are 7-4 at the No. 2 spot.

SCOUTING THE BULLS
USF enters Saturday's match with a 9-8 overall record and a 1-2 record in the American Athletic Conference. The Bulls will play Rice Friday prior to facing the Herd. USF and Marshall have played one common opponent this season, with both teams earning a win over Penn State. The Bulls are led by Juliana Cardoso, who has a 10-5 singles record while playing at every spot this season except No. 1. Ana Roman is 10-6 at the No. 1 spot. Cardoso and Olga Martinez are the top doubles pairing for the Bulls with an 8-5 record at the No. 1 spot.

SCOUTING THE OWLS
Rice enters Sunday's match with a 12-5 overall record and a 1-0 record in Conference USA. The Owls will play USF Friday prior to hosting the Herd Sunday morning. Rice and Marshall have played one common opponent, with the Owls defeating VCU and the Herd falling to the Rams. Rice is led by Alison Ho, who has an 11-4 singles record while playing in four different spots. Wendy Zhang is 10-5 for the Owls playing in each of the top three spots. Ho and Priya Niezgoda are the top doubles pairing for the Owls with a 9-4 record playing primarily at the No. 2 spot.
