HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m., to take on Conference USA foe South Carolina. The Thundering Herd enters the contest with a record of 4-2-0 and 0-1-0 in C-USA action. The Gamecocks are 3-2-0 and 0-1-0 in conference play.

Marshall lit up the scoreboard Wednesday evening at Hoops Family Field with a 3-0 win over Eastern Illinois. The Herd offense gave the Panthers defense and the goalkeeper a workout with 27 total shots and 14 on goal. On the other side, EIU managed just one shot the entire match.
Herd head coach Chris Grassie has his team playing an attacking style that has resulted in Marshall outshooting its opponents 89-54, 45-19 in shots on goal, and outscoring the competition 11-4. Freshman striker Lewis Knight leads the team with six goals and is among the nation's leaders in total goals and goals per game. Freshmen Pedro Dolabella and Jaime Izquierdo Roiz have two goals each and senior Adi Dakwar added his first goal in a Marshall uniform versus EIU.
Senior goalkeeper Nate Himes is 3-1 this season and has recorded 11 saves and allowed just three goals.
SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
South Carolina has wins this season over USC Upstate (2-1), Mercer (2-1) and North Florida (1-0). The two losses have come against No. 5 Clemson (4-1) and the C-USA opener, 2-1, against Florida Atlantic.
Freshman Justin Sukow leads the team with three goals and is tied with sophomore Luca Mayr with seven points. Mayr has two goals and three assists. Senior keeper William Pyle has played all 467 minutes with 21 saves and eight goals allowed.
