Tennis Readies for ITA Atlantic Regional

Five-day tournament features 32 teams and awards two ITA Fall Championship spots

LYNCHBURG, Va. — After not playing in a match for 11 days, the Marshall tennis team returns to action Friday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic Regional Tournament.
The Herd is one of 32 teams participating in the tournament, with Liberty serving as the host institution. One singles participant and one doubles pairing will be awarded spots in the Oracle ITA Fall National Championships in Surprise, Arizona.
Marshall is coming off an 11-win performance at the Hokie Fall Invite in its last tournament action. Victoria Walter reached the championship match of her singles flight, Liz Stefancic finished third in her singles flight and Anna Smith finished fifth in her flight.
Marshall's regional run begins Friday at 9 a.m. when Walter, Stefancic and Madi Ballow participate in the singles qualifying bracket. Eight qualifiers will be awarded spots in the main draw. Smith and Stefancic will participate in the doubles bracket, which is scheduled to begin Friday at 2 p.m. Smith earned a spot in the main singles draw, which is slated to begin Saturday at 9 a.m.

Liz Stefancic (Marshall) vs. No. 4 Paula Goetz (West Virginia) – 9 a.m.
Second round qualifying matches begin at 11 a.m.
Doubles Round of 64
Anna Smith/Liz Stefancic (Marshall) vs. Drousile Dzeubou/Malin Falk (Radford) – 2 p.m.
