Marshall Men’s Basketball To Continue Action Against Mount St. Mary’s (Md.)

A win would mark second 3-0 start in last three seasons

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Herd men's basketball prepare for the middle game of a three-game homestand against Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday (Nov. 14) at 7 p.m. in the Henderson Center.
 
HAVE YOU HERD
Marshall took down Hofstra on Sunday (Nov. 11), 76-72, at the Henderson Center. The Herd are 2-0 to start the season for the third consecutive season.
 
Sophomore guard Darius George had a block and a charge down the stretch to help Marshall finish off Hofstra. The Herd held the Pride without a made field-goal attempt in the final 3:40 of the ballgame.
 
Senior guards Jon Elmore and C.J. Burks have combined for 103 of the team's 181 points in the first two games. Elmore has had 73 straight games with 10 or more points.
 
Elmore needs three assists to reach second all-time in program history in the stat and would pass Mike D'Antoni, who had 607 helpers.
 
The Herd received two points in the Week Two AP Top 25 Poll on Monday, marking the most points in the poll since Week 11 of 2009-10 season.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
The Mountaineers are 0-2 on the season, with their most recent loss coming on Nov. 9 to Hofstra, 79-61.
 
Mount St. Mary's is averaging 58 points per game and is shooting 36.8 percent from the field through two games. The Mountaineers are currently being outrebounded by a margin of 15.5
 
WHO TO KNOW
Sophomore Jalen Gibbs leads the Mountaineers in scoring averaging 22.5 points per game. The guard is also the team's leading rebounder with 7 boards per contest and is second in assists with 1.5 per contest.
 
Freshman Vado Morse is also averaging 10 or more points this season with 11.5. The guard is also leading Mount St. Mary's in assists with two per game.
 
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first meeting between Marshall and Mount St. Mary's.
