TFRRS Qualifying List
HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-The Marshall track and field team has had early individual standout performances to have eight members in qualifying position for the NCAA East Preliminary Meet.
The top-48 athletes in both the East and West Region in each individual track and field event at the end of the season qualify for the NCAA Preliminary Meets. The NCAA East Preliminary Meet this year is to be held in Tampa, Florida. The East Region is comprised of 213 women's programs.
Last season, Marshall sent three athletes to the NCAA East Preliminary Meet. Current junior Heidi Heiniger qualified along with since graduated Alexis Montes in the javelin throw. 2017 graduate Antonique Butler qualified in the triple jump.
The three athletes who qualified last season for the Herd were the most since 2013 when Marshall sent four athletes competing in seven events individually and a relay to the regional meet.
The eight athletes who currently sit in qualifying position are:
Denisha West-7th in the Triple Jump (12.57 meters/41 feet, 3 inches, Cal Poly Invitational)
Melany Belot-12th in the Triple Jump (12.45 meters/40 feet, 10.25 inches, Cal Poly Invitational)
HollyAnn Swann-14th in the 5000m (17:21.17, 49er Classic)
Safiyyah Mitchell-20th in the 100 Meter Hurdles (13.61, Cal Poly Invitational)
Adriana Cook-27th in the 5000m (17:33.19, 49er Classic)
Elena Marchand-38th in the Discus Throw (47.40 meters/155 feet, 6 inches, 49er Classic)
Christianna Dogan-39th in the 400 Meter Hurdles (1:01.61, 49er Classic)
Hasana Clark-40th in the Hammer Throw (54.90 meters/180 feet, 1 inch, 49er Classic)
Heidi Heiniger-40th in the Javelin Throw (42.72 meters/140 feet, 2 inches, Cal Poly Invitational)
The first USTFCCCA Regional Rankings of the 2018 outdoor season will be announced Monday, April 2.
