IRVING, Texas –
Junior Shelby Brauckmuller
was named Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. It is the first weekly honor for Brauckmuller.
"Shelby has worked hard over the years and I'm glad to see her hard work be recognized," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer
said. "She is so talented and I'm glad she is a part of Marshall women's golf."
Brauckmuller began the year finishing tied for fifth at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational and helping Marshall to a runner-up finish. The Auburndale, Fla., native followed that up with her first career collegiate victory at the William & Mary Invitational on Monday, Sept. 10. Her three-round score of 210 is a personal best and it was also her seventh career finish in the top-10.
The junior shot a 4-under 68 in the first round and scored a 1-under 71 in the second and third rounds to finish at 6-under for the tournament. In taking first place and the strong play from her teammates, the Herd won its first tournament of the 2018-19 season, and sixth since Brauckmuller joined the team as a freshman in the fall of 2016.
Brauckmuller was named Conference USA Freshman of the Year at the end of the 2016-17 season and was honored again with a third-team all-conference selection for 2017-18.
