DAVIDSON, N.C. –
The Marshall men's golf team finished the final round at the River Run Collegiate, hosted by Davidson at the River Run Country Club, Tuesday afternoon.
Marshall finished in 13th place.
"Another tough day for us as a team," Herd head coach Matt Grobe
said. "I was excited to see Cole (Moore), Thomas (Frazier) and Will (Straub) put together a solid round today. We know that we have a lot of work to do to get better. I really like our team and I am looking forward to watching them improve over the next couple of tournaments."
Redshirt senior Thomas Frazier
bounced back in each round after beginning with an 8-over 80 in the first round. Frazier improved by four strokes in each round and scored an even-par 72 in the third round and jumped up 12 spots on the leaderboard.
Redshirt sophomore Will Straub
saw an 8-stroke improvement from the second round to the third in finishing with a 1-over 73 on Tuesday.
James Madison improved by 9-strokes as a team from the second round and finished one-stroke better than Furman to take the team title. The Dukes ended the three-round event with a 1-under team score of 863.
Keller Harper of Furman came away with the individual award scoring a 9-under 207 over the three rounds.
Marshall returns to the links on Oct. 8-9 at the Mountaineer Intercollegiate.
