HUNTINGTON, W.Va. –
The Marshall men's golf team is set for the 2018-19 season-opener at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, hosted at the Guyan Golf and Country Club. The three-round, two-day event will start Monday at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Fifteen teams will be participating in the tournament. Along with Marshall the other 14 teams are Eastern Kentucky, Wichita State, Dayton, George Washington, VCU, Wright State, Youngstown State, Northern Kentucky, Longwood, Ohio, Davidson, St. Francis (Pa.), William & Mary and Belmont.
All ten of the players from Marshall's roster will be participating in the event. The five who will be playing as a team for the Herd will be freshman Kyle Mitchell,
redshirt senior Thomas Frazier,
redshirt sophomore Matt Hoffman,
redshirt sophomore Cameron Root
and redshirt junior Ben Roeder.
The other five golfers on the roster; juniors Camden Moore
and Cole Moore,
sophomore Brad Plaziak,
freshman Isaac Prine
and redshirt sophomore Will Straub
will play as individuals.
In 2017, the final round of the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational was rained out. However, Dayton won the team award finishing with a 6-under team score of 562 through the first two rounds from the previous day. The Herd came in second, just one stroke behind the Flyers. Marshall senior Alex Weiss
won the individual award with an 11-under 131.
The tournament is named for Joe Feaganes who coached the Marshall men's golf team from 1972-2002.
