  • Induction:
    2010
  • Class:
    1985
One of the greatest bargains in Marshall history, Brad Puryear started every game during his four years as member of the Thundering Herd soccer team and was a three-time All-Southern Conference selection despite the fact that he was a walk-on for his first two seasons. After he played every minute during his sophomore campaign, Puryear received a tuition scholarship for his final two years as he served as a team captain in 1984 and 1985. On the field, Puryear set a school record with four assists in a match against Kentucky Christian College. Also a star on the academic side, Puryear won the 1984 Cam Henderson Award as Marshall’s outstanding male student-athlete and graduated cum laude with an economics degree before going on to law school at the University of Georgia. In addition to his career as an attorney, Puryear has served as a youth soccer coach, Sunday School teacher and president of the Jaycees in Gainesville, Ga. Puryear was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010.
