  • Induction:
    2019
  • Class:
    1996
The final time that Jamie Wilson walked off the field wearing a Marshall uniform, he and his teammates were celebrating a national championship and the most dominant season in Division I-AA football history. As a freshman in 1993, the Gloucester, Va., product served as an understudy to All-American offensive tackle Chris Deaton and then took over as the starter for every game in his final three seasons with the Thundering Herd. As a sophomore, Wilson helped Marshall to a 12-2 record and paved the way for running back Chris Parker to rush for more than 1,700 yards as Wilson received second-team All-Southern Conference recognition. Wilson saved his best for last, as Marshall went 15-0 and won the 1996 National Championship as he garnered first-team All-Conference and second-team All-American honors. After finishing his Marshall career, Wilson spent three seasons in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers, Minnesota Vikings and Indianapolis Colts. He was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019.
