Few Marshall University student-athletes have rewritten the school record books in the way that Rachel Folden did during her softball career from 2005-08. The Baldwin Park, Calif., native began making her mark from the moment she stepped on Marshall’s campus, batting .406 with 19 doubles, nine home runs and 60 runs batted in as a freshman, earning her Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year, first-team All-MAC and third-team All-American honors. She was just as dominant as Marshall moved to Conference USA the following year as Folden won the league’s Triple Crown with a .386 batting average, 18 home runs and 56 RBIs, garnering league Player of the Year honors and second-team All-American recognition. She would win first-team All-CUSA honors again as a junior and as a senior and won her second conference Player of the Year Award as a senior. Folden received second-team All-American honors as a junior and third-team recognition again as a senior, making her a four-time All-American. She also received All-Conference USA academic honors each season.
