Marshall University Athletics
Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame

Reggie Giles
- Induction:
- 2002
- Class:
- 1988
Reggie Giles holds a distinction rare among Marshall athletes – he played on conference champion teams in football and basketball. Giles was a member of the Thundering Herd’s Southern Conference basketball champion in 1986-87 and he also ran track in the 1986 and 1987 seasons, but was best known for his play on the football field. As a cornerback, Giles shattered the Marshall interception records, picking off 19 in his career and returning them for 309 yards, both the best marks in school history. Giles was an All-Southern Conference selection in 1986 and 1988 and in 1987 helped Marshall to a berth in the NCAA Division I-AA championship game, where he was sidelined by a knee injury that greatly hampered the Thundering Herd in a 43-42 loss to Northeast Louisiana. Even after graduating from Marshall, he continued to display his versatility, playing on both semipro football and basketball teams. Giles was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002.
