Rogers Beckett

A standout free safety on some of the greatest Marshall teams, Rogers Beckett started his career as a member of the undefeated 1996 NCAA Division I-AA national champions and finished it with another perfect season in 1999. The Apopka, Fla., native helped the Thundering Herd to a 50-4 record as a member of four conference championship squads. Beckett not only made 304 tackles and intercepted 11 passes during his career, he also served as vice president of the university’s Student Government Association in 1999-2000. A two-time All-Mid-American Conference selection, Beckett was also named an All-American by The Sporting News as a senior. After playing in the East-West Shrine Game, Beckett was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the second round of the 2000 NFL Draft and went on to start 43 games over a five-year NFL career. Beckett was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009.
