HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Ronald Blackshear scored 26 points, and Marvin Black recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, to lead Marshall University to an 87-77 win over the University at Buffalo in Mid-American Conference men's basketball action Saturday.

"This is a good win for us," Marshall coach Greg White said. "It was important for us to get back on track tonight and I thought we played well from top to bottom."

Marshall (9-6 overall, 5-2 MAC) ended a three-game losing skid with the victory thanks to a strong performance from Blackshear and Black.

Blackshear ignited the Herd early by hitting seven of eight shots and connecting on all five of his three-point attempts in the first half. The 6-5 junior from Camilla, Ga., finished the game 9-15 from the floor for 26 points. He also added three rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

Black dominated underneath hitting five of six shots for 13 points and pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds. The junior from Cleveland also added four assists and a steal. Black and Blackshear combined to play 69 minutes and niether player recorded a turnover.

Marshall's only other double-digit scorer was Monty Wright. The senior from Oak Hill netted 11 points in the win. Sophomore David Anderson also scored nine points on three of three shotting.

Buffalo (3-13, 0-7 MAC) was led by freshman B.J. Walkers 22 points and seven rebounds.

Marshall shot 56.6% from the field and 47.8% from three-point range, while UB connected on 50% of its shots from the floor and only 21.1% of its three-point attempts.

Both teams recorded 32 rebounds, however the Bulls managed to score 52 points in the paint to Marshall's 24.

The Thundering Herd now travels to Muncie, Indiana, to take on Ball State University Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
