Thundering Herd Madness Kicks Off Basketball Season This Friday Night

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Basketball season is once again upon us, and the Thundering Herd will welcome the 2005-06 campaign with its first official practice of the fall at Thundering Herd Madness, this Friday at 8:30 p.m. in the Henderson Center.
Doors open for the annual event, which is sponsored by the Marshall Basketball Tip-Off Club, at 7:30 p.m.
Included in the giveaways this season are free books for a Marshall student for the spring semester from the Marshall University Bookstore, a shot to win a new car, a chance to win a new recliner, and four tickets and lodging to the 2006 Conference USA Basketball Tournament at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn.
Also included in the festivities will be a dunk contest with celebrity judges.
It is also the first opportunity for Herd fans to meet the new additions to the Thundering Herd - juniors Chris Ross (San Antonio, Texas) and Travis Aikens (Orlando, Fla.), sophomores Jean Francois Bro Grebe (Abidjan, Ivory Coast) and Mark Dorris (Cincinnati, Ohio), and freshmen Markel Humphrey (Ellenwood, Ga.) and Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, Va.).
Tickets for the event are $5 for adults and free for Marshall students and people under the age of 18.
