HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall athletic equipment managers avenged last year's loss in the annual Turkey Bowl with a 39-16 win over the athletic training staff on Tuesday morning at Joan C Edwards stadium.
Led by Offensive MVP Derek Ragle, who threw 5 touchdown passes with no interceptions and defensive MVP Adam Trowbridge who picked off three passes, the Managers jumped out to an early 14-0 lead, only to see that lead cut to 14-9 at the half following a last minute touchdown by the trainers followed by a safety with only 22 seconds left in the half.
The second half was a different story. Coming out in an unorthodox style of offense, the managers scored on just the third play of the half and never looked back. They scored 18 unanswered in the second half, including two safeties. The Trainers scored a late touchdown in the final two minutes to get the score at 32-16. However, the Managers were not finished. Rather than taking a knee to end the contest, the Managers placed the dagger in as Ragle Hit Adam Brooks on a 59 yard Touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage to set the final score at 39-16.
The Turkey Bowl is an annual Thanksgiving week tradition at Marshall.
