HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Mark Patton tied a career-high 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Marshall to a 66-56 win Thursday over Maryland-Eastern Shore.

Joe Miles scored 10 of his 13 points in the second half while freshman Markel Humphrey set his career mark with 10 points in Marshall's victory.

Antonio McMillion led Maryland-Eastern Shore with 17 points while Tim Parham scored 15 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. Troy Jackson added 10 points in the loss.

The game was plagued by mistakes as both teams committed several turnovers and did not execute when they could hold onto the ball.

Marshall committed 20 turnovers in the contest and shot just 37 percent from the field. However, the Hawks could do no better, amassing 17 turnovers and hitting 36 percent from the floor.

The biggest advantage of the game came on offense where Marshall was able to come down with 22 offensive rebounds on the way to 50 total for the game.
