HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University men's basketball team will commence a three-game homestand beginning with Saturday night's tilt with Tulane University at the Cam Henderson Center. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. ET.

Tulane (15-8, 5-4 Conference USA) currently stands in a three-way tie for fourth place in the league standings, a half-game ahead of Marshall (13-10, 5-5). The Green Wave is coming off two straight losses and has not played since a 10-point loss at Houston on Feb. 9, meanwhile the Thundering Herd, alone in seventh place, has won two straight contests.

Senior Mark Dorris (Cincinnati, Ohio) shot the Herd to victory at SMU on Wednesday, sinking a 3-pointer with 0.7 seconds remaining to give Marshall a 75-74 win.

Dorris paces the Herd in scoring (13.7 ppg), shooting 41.2 percent from the floor and 35 percent from 3-point range. Junior guard/forward Markel Humphrey (Atlanta, Ga.) is just behind Dorris with 13.6 ppg and sports a 5.5 rebound per game average while playing a team-high 34 minutes per game, including all 40 minutes of MU's thriller in Dallas against the Mustangs.

Tulane forward David Gomez, a 6-foot-8 forward, leads the Green Wave in scoring (14.5 ppg) and rebounding (6.2 rpg). Sophomore guard Kevin Sims is fourth in C-USA in assists (4.3/game) and scores 12.0 ppg.

TU ranks second in field goal percentage defense within conference play (38.8 percent), third in scoring defense (64.0 ppg) and second in blocked shots (5.8/game). The Wave nets 65.1 points per game (8th) and shoots 43.9 percent from the field (5th).

Marshall assistant coach Shawn Finney was head coach at Tulane from 2000-05. He posted a record of 60-86 with the Green Wave.

Tulane has won three out of four meetings all-time with Marshall, with one of the wins coming in the first round of the 2006 C-USA Championship. The Green Wave claimed a 73-65 win over the Thundering Herd in Huntington last season. MU will make a return trip to New Orleans on March 5.

The game will be video streamed live on Herd All-Access, via HerdZone.com. The contest can also be heard on the Thundering Herd/ISP Sports Network with Steve Cotton (PxP) and Woody Woodrum (color).
