Men's Basketball Set to Face Southern Miss Tuesday

Hattiesburg, Miss. - Marshall University's men's basketball will take on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles Tuesday night at 9 p.m. (ET) The game from will be televised live from Hattiesburg by CSS (Comcast Channel 68 in Huntington).
Southern Miss and Marshall will meet for the eighth time, with Marshall holding a 4-3 advantage. In Hattiesburg, the series is tied 1-1. Last year, Southern Miss won the only meeting, defeating Marshall, 63-58, in Huntington.
Southern Miss enters Tuesday night's game with a 12-6 record and is 2-2 in C-USA. The Golden Eagles defeated Montana State, 68-60, last Saturday night.
Craig Craft recorded game-highs of 20 points and nine rebounds. Courtney Beasley scored 18 points, while R.L. Horton added 13 points. Jeremy Wise contributed eight assists.
Wise is eighth in the conference with 16.6 points per game, while also averaging 4.8 assists. Beasley is averaging 13.9 points and grabbing a team-high 6.6 rebounds, while R.L. Horton is adding 11.4 points. Craft is scoring 11.3 points and grabbing 5.5 rebounds.
The Golden Eagles are averaging 67.7 points per game, while allowing 61.6. Southern Miss is hitting 72.1-percent of their free throws and grabbing 36.1 rebounds.
Marshall enters the game with a 9-10 record and is 2-2 in conference. The Thundering Herd is coming of a 87-69 loss at UCF Sunday afternoon.
Junior guard Chris Lutz led Marshall with 20 points. Freshman guard Dago Pena scored 13 points, and senior forward Markel Humphrey and freshman guard Shaquille Johnson each added 12. Johnson also contributed a game-high nine assists.
Junior forward Tyler Wilkerson is Marshall's leading scorer with 10.6 points while also pulling down a team-high 6.1 rebounds. Freshman guard Damier Pitts averages 10.5 points.
As a team, MU is shooting 44.0-percent while allowing its opponents to shoot 47.1-percent from the field. The Thundering Herd is scoring 71.1 points per game while allowing 70.9.
