CINCINNATI, Ohio- Marshall's Tynikki Crook fell just short of her third straight double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds but Cincinnati's Kayla Cook answered tying her career-high with 15 points to go along with seven boards en route to a 57-47 victory in Tuesday night's nonconference women's basketball game at the Fifth Third Arena.

The Thundering Herd drops to 3-7 on the season, while the Bearcats snap a four game losing streak to improve to 6-4 mark.

Senior, Crook started the Herd off, connecting on an old fashioned three-point play, to put MU on top 3-0, however the Bearcats would spark for a 13-2 run in the midst of MU shooting 2-of-10 to take a 13-5 lead mid-way through the first half.

Cincinnati would benefit from the Thundering Herd's 28.6 percent shooting from the field in the opening 20 minutes of action, as well as converting 13 Thundering Herd turnovers into 13 points to take a 30-20 advantage at the break.

"We turned the ball over too many times in the first half and didn't do a good job of attacking their defense," head coach Royce Chadwick said.

The Bearcats juggled a ten point advantage throughout most of the second half. Crook, who picked up her fourth personal foul with just under 13 minutes to play in the contest, looked to ignite the Herd with under seven minutes remaining, getting to the free throw line on three consecutive possessions and netting five-of-six from the charity stripe but a three-point play by Bjonee Reaves for her 10th point of the game would take the wind out of Marshall's sail.

Rashedah Henriques chipped in 11 points for Marshall, while Tessa Johnson contributed eight points off the bench, shooting 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. Crook would score eight of her points in the in final 6:42, all coming from the free throw line.

"We had good play off the bench but struggled to get our offense going," Chadwick continued.

Cincinnati's Shareese Ulis chipped in 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in the win.

The Herd takes the rest of the week off for the holiday break and returns to action for a two-game home stand, beginning with Morehead State on Dec. 28th and finishes the calendar year against Elon on Dec. 30th.
