Herd Receives One Vote in AP Poll

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall's men's basketball team received one vote in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll on Friday.
The Thundering Herd joined Minnesota and San Diego State with one vote in the preseason poll.
Three Marshall opponents are ranked which are No. 5 Syracuse, No. 11 Memphis and No. 21 Cincinnati. West Virginia is also on the schedule and received four votes.
Marshall has not been ranked in the AP Top 25 since the 1971-72 season. That year the Herd entered the poll on December 20 as No. 20 and finished ranked 12th. The team coached by Carl Tacy finished 23-4 and lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
North Carolina topped the rankings with 62 first-place votes.
