HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The No. 51 Marshall University tennis team took two-of-three doubles matches and five-of-six singles matches en route to a 6-1 victory over the Louisville Cardinals on a balmy Friday afternoon at the Brain David Fox Tennis Courts.

With the win, the Thundering Herd improved its overall record to an impressive 14-4. The loss dropped U of L to 11-7.

The afternoon started with Michaela Kissell and Dominika Zaprazna winning No. 1 doubles in dominant fashion as the 33rd ranked team in the country took care of Julia Fellerhoff and Rebecca Shine by a score of 8-1. MU's top duo is still undefeated in spring competition with an overall record of 15-0.

Kara Kucin and Karli Timko secured the doubles point for Marshall with an 8-4 win in third doubles as the tandem defeated U of L's Kaysara Mandry and Gabrielle Duncan. The two are 6-5 as doubles partners.

The back end of MU singles took care of business to increase the Herd lead. Kucin was first to finish on court six, defeating Sonia Bokhari 6-0, 6-1. Maria Voscekova was right behind her in fifth singles, blanking Duncan 6-0, 6-0.

Catherine Kellner wrapped up the team victory on court three as she topped Mandry in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0, and giving the Herd a 4-0 cushion. Zaprazna gave the Herd a 5-0 advantage after completing her match in second singles, winning 6-4, 6-4.

With the outcome already decided, Michaela Kissell on court one and Kristina Koprcina on court four would have their match finish in a second set tie-break. Kissell came out triumphant with a 7-5, 5-7, 10-8 victory over Fellerhoff, while Koprcina fell 6-4, 1-6, 10-6 to Amelia Harris.
