PITTSBURGH - Marshall University assistant men's basketball coach Bill Barton has accepted a similar position at the University of Pittsburgh, it was announced on Tuesday.
Barton joined Thundering Herd head coach Tom Herrion's staff in 2010 and helped to lead Marshall to a 22-12 record this season and its second-consecutive postseason berth.
"We are very excited for Bill and his family for this wonderful opportunity," Herrion said. "In a short year, he had a big impact on our program. We are thankful for his contributions. He will do a great job for Coach Dixon and the entire Pitt program."
Barton will replace Pat Skerry, who was named the head coach at Towson University earlier in the month. Prior to Skerry, Herrion coached with the Panthers in the same capacity from 2007-10.
