HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will host the 15th Annual Sweetheart Clinic on Sunday, February 5th.
Girls aged 4-12 are invited to participate. Space is limited, so participants must pre-register individually on a first-come, first-served basis. No walk-up participants will be accepted.
Pre-registration, which will be accepted via HerdZone.com only, will begin Tuesday, Jan. 17 through Tuesday, Feb 24, or until the clinic is full. Registrants must provide their name, emergency contact number, e-mail address, t-shirt size, and age. Group registration is not permitted.
The Sweetheart Clinic is conducted by Marshall Athletics. The program began in 1998 in recognition of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Since its inception, more than 1,850 girls have participated and had the opportunity to learn developmental skills in nine women's sports.
Participants will be divided into age groups and will rotate through nine different stations, learning developmental sports skills from Marshall coaches and student-athletes. In addition to developmental skill instruction, participants will receive a free t-shirt.
Check-in for participants will last from 8:45 to 9:25 a.m. in The Marshall Recreation Center. The Clinic will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Following the Clinic, participants will enjoy a pizza party and a Marshall University Cheerleaders-led pep rally. Participants will then be invited to attend the Marshall women's basketball team's game versus the UAB at 1:00 p.m. in the Cam Henderson Center.
The Clinic, including pizza party, pep rally and the women's basketball game, is free to participants, and sponsored by WMUL-FM. Sweetheart Clinic family members and observers may purchase a ticket to the women's basketball game at the Clinic for $3.
