QB Rakeem Cato's seven TD passes take him to 35 this season, making him the first Marshall QB in history to have three 30-TD seasons.

Marshall game captains versus WKU, as chosen by Coach Doc Holliday and his staff, are Offense: Rakeem Cato, QB; Tommy Shuler, WR; Defense: Jermaine Holmes, LB; Neville Hewitt, LB. Cato has the team-high of eight captaincies this season.

Senior C Chris Jasperse made his team-leading 51st career start (every game he's played at MU), tied for most among active offensive linemen in FBS. The Marshall record for starts - as an FBS program (1953-81 and 1997-present) -- is 52 by OT Steve Sciullo (1999-2002). Stat includes players on offense, defense; no specialists.

Marshall's 14-0 deficit (11:23, first quarter) is largest Herd deficit at home this season. Marshall also trailed 14-0 at Southern Miss, at 5:44 of first quarter.

WR Tommy Shuler first catch extends his streak of consecutive games with a reception to 39 (streak started in 2011 Beef O Brady's Bowl); ranks tied for ninth-longest active streak in FBS.

WR Tommy Shuler touchdown catch is his 24th at Marshall, tying him with Troy Brown and Aaron Dobson at No. 5 in career receiving TDs in Herd history. Mike Barber (1985-88) is No. 4, at 26 TDs.

QB Rakeem Cato's first-quarter TD pass takes him to 44 consecutive games with a scoring pass, the NCAA's FBS record. The only QB in NCAA history with a longer streak is Mike Reilly (2005-08) of Central Washington. He has 46, the Division II record.

Rakeem Cato (80 passing yards) has 13,153 pass yards, breaking Chad Pennington's Marshall career record of 13,143.

WKU's 21 points are the most allowed by Marshall in a first half this season.

WKU's 28 points (4:09 first quarter) is most points allowed by Herd in a game this season.

2:24 first quarter - Rakeem Cato has 181 pass yards, taking him to 13,254 for his career, passing Colt McCoy (13,253 at Texas, 2006-09) for No. 10 in NCAA major college career history.

12:45 second quarter - QB Rakeem Cato's three interceptions are his most since he had three in a September 2012 loss at Purdue.

Brandon Doughty's 6 TD passes for WKU ties the Edwards Stadium record for most in a game, set by MU's Byron Leftwich in 2001 win over Ohio. Doughty's 6 TD passes also ties record for a Marshall opposing QB, set by Houston's Case Keenum in 2011 at Houston.

The 91 points by both teams at halftime fell short of the major-college record by 3. The 94 was set Nov. 10, 2007, at North Texas in the first half: North Texas 49, Navy 45. The Midshipmen won on the road, 74-62.

1:50 left third quarter -- WR Tommy Shuler's five catches gives him 292 career catches, tying Jarrett Dillard (292 at Rice, 2005-08) for No. 3 in C-USA history.

11:24 left - Stew Butler's 195 rushing yards are his career high.

Rakeem Cato has four interceptions, matching the most in his career in a game, a 2011 loss vs. Ohio U.

RB Stew Butler's 200-plus yards rushing gives Marshall two backs with 200-yard games in one season for the first time in history. Devon Johnson had a school-record 272 versus FAU last month.
