HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-The Marshall men's basketball team, under the direction of new head coach Dan D'Antoni, hosts Concord University in an exhibition game Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
The game can be heard on WMUL-FM 88.1 and online here.
Six players return from last season's Thundering Herd roster, and they bring back only 42.8 percent of the scoring and 54.9 percent of the 2013-14 rebounds. Within those two numbers, then-freshman forward Ryan Taylor contributed 38.9 (scoring) and 33.4 (rebounding) percent. With averages of 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds to go with seven double-doubles, the 6-foot-6 Taylor made the Conference USA All-Freshman Team.
Concord, a member of NCAA Division II, was picked to finish 10th in the Mountain East Conference Preseason Poll after an 8-21 record last season. The Mountain Lions are led by fourth-year coach Kent McBride, who welcomes back 10 lettermen from last season including the team's top three scorers in senior guard Mike Boyd (13.8 points per game), junior guard Cam Shannon (11.0 ppg) and junior forward Terry Hopewell (8.3 ppg).
The Herd begins its regular season next Friday when Jacksonville State enters the Henderson Center for a 7 p.m. tip.
