BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Marshall men's soccer fell at UAB Saturday night in the Conference USA opener for both teams, 3-0. Marshall dropped to 3-4 (0-1 C-USA) while UAB improved to 3-2-2(1-0 C-USA).
The Blazers had seven shots on goal while Marshall only managed one. Freshman Trevor Clemens played all 90 minutes in goal for the Herd and made four saves.
Senior Daniel Jodah was the only Marshall player to manage a shot on goal. The Blazers got the scoring started in the 22nd minute Rami Dajani. James Ngoe added a goal in the 78th minute and Chase Rushing finished off the night with a goal in the 85th minute.
COACH'S CORNER
Assistant Coach Thomas Olivier:
"Well it was another night of learning for us. We need to manage games better and put ourselves in a better position to win. It was a tough intro to C-USA for some of our new guys."
"We let UAB dictate how the game was going to be played and it was the difference. Credit the Blazers for imposing their will in the game. We didn't take advantage of some big chances at key moments in each half and a team like is with experienced players, shouldn't do that. There were some positives in our play again, but not enough of them overall."
"We believe in our team and more importantly, in the resilience of our players to fix these issues with a good week of training at home coming up."
UP NEXT
Marshall returns home for two matches. First up is a non-conference slate with Northern Kentucky, Wednesday Sept. 21 with a 7 p.m. kickoff. It is back to Conference USA play Sept. 25 as FAU visits Hoops Family Field for a noon Sunday kick.
