Men’s Basketball Faces Quick Turnaround with Game Against Morehead State

Herd looks to end first three-game losing streak since 2016-17 season

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Herd men's basketball closes out a two-game homestand before heading on the road Monday night at the Cam Henderson Center against Morehead State.

HAVE YOU HERD
Marshall fell in overtime despite a 21-point second-half comeback against Toledo Saturday (Dec. 8).
 
Senior guard Rondale Watson had 14 points and 10 rebounds in the contest for the first double-double of his career.
 
Redshirt freshman Iran Bennett had three blocks and three steals, both career-highs.
 
The Herd has had a 20-point scorer in eight of its nine games. Senior guard Jon Elmore has scored 20 or more points in six games this season.
 
Senior guard C.J. Burks is the only player on the team to score in double-figures every game this season, including four games with 20 or more points.
 
Saturday's loss to Toledo was Herd's first loss at home and first loss when outscoring its opponent in the paint of the season.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Morehead State has a 3-5 record coming into tonight's contest. The Eagles have a -1.5-point scoring margin, but have outrebounded its opponents by an average of 1.5 rebounds per game. MSU is shooting 43.8 percent from the field and is making 33.8 percent of its shots from three-point range. The Eagles have faced No. 14 Syracuse on the road and fell by only 14 points, 84-70. Morehead State was picked to finish 10th in the Ohio Valley Preseason Coaches' Poll.

WHO TO KNOW
Jordan Walker leads the Eagles with 14 points per game. Of qualifying players, he also leads his team in shooting from beyond the arc with a percentage of 38.6 and in free-throw percentage going 80.6 from the charity stripe.
 
A.J. Hicks leads MSU with 20 steals and is second in scoring with 13 points per game. Hicks shoots 38.8 percent from the field.
 
Lamontray Harris was named to the 2018-19 Preseason all-OVC men's basketball team by the conference's coaches. Harris is averaging 12.6 points per game and leads the team with 9.9 rebounds per game. Harris leads the Eagles is shooting percentage by making 51.9 of his shots from the field.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Marshall leads the all-time series over Morehead State 52-47, but the Eagles have taken four of the last five meetings from the Herd.
