Harrison Named Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week

Antioch, Tennessee native honored

DALLAS – Marshall kick returner Jayden Harrison was tabbed Conference USA's Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.

Harrison set the tone for the Thundering Herd when he took the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown in MU's 28-13 win at Florida Atlantic on Saturday. The play was the third time Marshall returned the opening kick for a touchdown, following Keith Baxter at Chattanooga in 1987 (89 yards) and Keion Davis at Miami (Ohio) in 2017 (99 yards). It also tied for the third-longest kick return in program history.

The Antioch, Tennessee native also added a 39-yarder on his next attempt, forcing the Owls to kick away from him the rest of the way.

The Thundering Herd (6-3, 4-1) will host UAB (6-3, 4-1) Saturday at 3:30 p.m. inside Joan C. Edwards Stadium. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network with John Sadak and Randy Cross on the call.
