Fun-Filled First Full Day at Myrtle Beach Bowl for Herd
12/17/2022 1:59:00 AM | Football
The first full day of events at the 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl saw Marshall's football team take part in plenty of competition.
The day started with the team's practice at Doug Shaw Stadium which showcased a spirited, but fun battle between the offensive and defensive linemen in one-on-ones.
Once the business portion of the day was done, it was time for Marshall University to spread the message of its university around the Grand Strand.
Members of the athletic department made the trip to Boys and Girls Club of the Grand Strand to hand out 100 tickets to the Myrtle Beach Bowl and 100 T-shirts on behalf of Chad Pennington's 1st and 10 Foundation to youth from the Myrtle Beach area.
Arlin Vieira, special assistant to Marshall Director of Athletics Christian Spears, made the presentation to several excited groups of kids while leading them in chants of "Let's Go Herd" and "We Are…Marshall!"
Later, Marshall's football players also took a tour of the Pro Football Hall of Fame exhibition at Broadway at the Beach before taking part in some more competition – that being in the form of Dave and Buster's.

Whether it was basketball, motorcycle races or air hockey, the players battled each other for bragging rights as they enjoyed the lighter side of the bowl experience.
As the first full day closed, Marshall's fan contingent took to Crocodile Rocks to enjoy an evening amongst fellow Thundering Herd fans, who got in to one of Broadway at the Beach's top spots free by wearing their Kelly green.
COMING UP
The Myrtle Beach Bowl experience continues Saturday with the team's second practice, followed by more events.
Following that practice, the team will take off to 810 Billiards & Bowling in North Myrtle Beach to enjoy more team bonding activities for dinner.
Big Green members will once again have the chance to visit an establishment with deep Marshall ties when they visit Wild Wing Café from 7 p.m. to close on Saturday night.
