Marshall Cross Country Reveals 2023 Schedule

Six scheduled meets include home Thundering Herd Invitational on September 15
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University cross country team revealed its 2023 schedule on Wednesday with six scheduled meets. The schedule features the home Thundering Herd Invitational to be held at the Kennedy Center YMCA Complex.
"I can't wait to get started with this meet schedule," Head Coach Caleb Bowen said. "This might be the best schedule that we have ever had in terms of developing our athletes competitively. We start off the season with Virginia Tech. It is a tougher course than most but I love the fact that we are going to race 4k for the women and 6k for the men. Racing shorter race distances early in the season helps develop the athletes to handle faster paces while training at a higher volume in order to help them peak for the conference/regional championships later in the fall."
"We then have the first annual Thundering Herd Invitational which will allow our fans an opportunity to watch our teams race at our home course at the YMCA Kennedy Center. It's a flat and fast course so it will be a blast to watch these athletes at their first opportunity to race the standard collegiate distances of 8k for men and 5k for women."
"We follow this meet with two extremely fast and competitive meets at Louisville and Texas A&M. These two meets are going to be all about racing up to their potential and beating some great teams. Many of the teams in our conference will be at Texas A&M so it will allow us to see how we stack up with the best in our conference and in the nation."
"Lastly we have our championship season with the Sun Belt Conference Championships and the Mid Atlantic Regional Championship. We have high expectations and I am excited to see how well we do this year at both meets. I believe this will be our best group that we have ever had in Marshall history and I hope we can perform to the level that I believe we can. If so, it's going to be really exciting to be a fan of the Herd's Cross Country teams this year."

September 1st- Virginia Tech Invitational (4k for women/6k for men)
September 15th- Thundering Herd Invitational (5k for women/8k for men)
September 30th- Louisville Classic (5k for women/8k for men)
October 14th- Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invitational (6k for women/8k for men)
October 28th- Sun Belt Championships (5k for women/8k for men)
November 10th- NCAA Mid Atlantic Regional Championship (6k for women/10k for men)
