HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame Committee met last week to begin the process toward selection of the Class of 2024.
Nominations for the Class of 2024 are being accepted by clicking HERE or by E-mailing them to traylor8@marshall.edu by Feb. 2.
"The Athletics Hall of Fame committee has met and is moving forward with the selection of the Class of 2024," said Linda Holmes, chairperson of the Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame committee and Hall of Fame Class of 2003 inductee. "Being selected as a member of the Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame is one of the highest honors bestowed on a Marshall athlete and the committee is vested with the selection process."
Please note that the online nomination form is an open form, so any nominations submitted after the Feb. 2 deadline will automatically be submitted for the next two-year cycle with the Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame.
Following the deadline, the Hall of Fame committee will compile the nominations and deliberate on the nominees before coming to its final list, which will be announced in the coming months along with the selected date for Hall of Fame weekend.
"I know the Hall of Fame committee will take great care in selecting our next Hall of Fame class," Marshall Director of Athletics Christian Spears said. "Making the call to a son or daughter of Marshall who was just selected to join the Hall of Fame is one of the best things we get to do."
Of note, once a nomination form is completed for an individual, that nomination is good for 10 years.
The Marshall University Athletics Hall of Fame recognizes, acknowledges and celebrates the athletic achievements of members of the university's athletic programs.
The Hall of Fame selection committee considers nominations based upon achievements during the nominee's time at Marshall University. Those achievements are broken down into three categories: Athlete, Administrator, Coach.
The eligibility criteria for nomination into the Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame is as follows:
Athlete
- Nominee must have earned two or more letters in one sport, or one letter in two or more sports
- Nominee must have graduated at least 10 years prior to consideration for selection while also demonstrating good citizenship attributes upon leaving the institution.
Administrator/Coach (Head or Assistant)
- A coach, athletic administrator or athletic department staff member must have lettered at Marshall or served on the staff for at least five years while also having exited their position for a minimum of five years.
