NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University men's basketball junior Nate Martin was named Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday, as announced by the league office.
Martin averaged 19.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in wins over Georgia State and Southern Miss while making 71.4 percent of his shots (15-for-21).
The native of Houston, Texas, tallied 15 points to go with a career-high tying 13 rebounds in a 77-68 win over Georgia State on Wednesday.
The junior forward followed up with a career-high 24 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high tying six assists to lead Marshall to an 83-67 win over Southern Miss on Saturday.
The pair of double-doubles brings Martin's season total to 11, eighth most in NCAA Division I men's basketball.
