Cross Country Finishes 2024 Season at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals

SBC Champion Kylee Mastin finishes 20th
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - A historic 2024 season for Marshall Cross Country came to a close on a cold afternoon at Penn State for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals.
Leading the Herd through a crowded field was Kylee Mastin with a 20th place finish and a 6K time of 20:31, another personal record for the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Champion.
"We got a lot of good experience out of today," Head Coach Caleb Bowen said. "The group is young on both sides, especially the men with mainly freshmen and sophomores, they got a lot of good experience today racing the 10K, that is always a learning curve. The women got a great experience as well racing at a Championship mentality. For Kylee to get top-20 and be on the verge of qualifying for the National Championships is awesome. The Mid-Atlantic Region is one of the hardest to qualify for so she raced well."
Mastin's personal-record time just missed the placing for next week's NCAA Championships in Madison, Wisc. She and the team moves forward to Indoor Track and Field starting next month.
"It has been really fun seeing the young group grow and develop this season," said Bowen. "Whenever you come into a season like this you have Abby Herring who has graduated, Kylee Mastin is in her final year. So it is really interesting to see how the underclassmen grow and develop. I thought they did a good job. It is hard going from high school competition to racing against some of the best in the world."
