NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University Men's Basketball senior Nate Martin was named the Sun Belt Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
The native of Houston, Texas, averaged 20.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game while shooting 77.8 percent from the field in wins over Southern Indiana and Bellarmine.
Martin drained the first two three-point buckets of his career while tallying 18 points and grabbing five rebounds in a 77-63 victory over the Screaming Eagles on Monday.
The forward followed that up with 23 points and nine boards as he went 9-for-11 (81.8 percent) from the field in the team's 83-62 triumph over Bellarmine Knights Saturday night.
The Herd prepares to travel to West Lafayette, Indiana, for a contest against No. 6/6 Purdue Boilermakers at Noon.
