Third-annual event will showcase new head coaches, new-look basketball programs

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Athletics presents the 3rd Annual 'Hoops in Huntington' event at 8 p.m. on Oct. 3 in front of Pullman Square, located on Third Avenue in downtown Huntington.

Hoops in Huntington brings excitement to downtown Huntington with an event that gives fans a first look at Marshall's Men's and Women's basketball teams as they get practice underway for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Both programs feature first-year coaches with Cornelius Jackson leading the Men's Basketball program and Juli Fulks taking over the Women's Basketball program.
"Hoops in Huntington has become a staple event for Marshall Athletics and is one of the most unique events you will see across the country," said Ryan Crisp, Associate Athletic Director for Annual Giving, Ticket Sales and Fan Engagement. "We are excited to showcase our men's and women's basketball teams and to give our fans a chance to meet the new players and coaches. This free event is something I know our fans look forward to every year."
Hoops in Huntington brings Marshall University Athletics to the downtown area for a unique evening of outdoor basketball on Third Avenue that marries the university, athletics and the Huntington community together. The outdoor court will be set up between Marshall University's Visual Arts Center and Pullman Square.
Fans are encouraged to get to the event at 7 p.m. for an hour to enjoy an autograph session with the teams, along with knockout competitions, inflatables and food options that will be available leading up to the event's 8 p.m. start.
Jackson takes over the Men's Basketball program after serving as a Marshall assistant for the last seven years.
Fulks is in her first year with the Thundering Herd Women's Basketball program after leading Transylvania to national prominence at the Div. III level.

Both Marshall Basketball teams open their season on October 27 against the University of Pikeville with the men playing at 4 p.m. and the women taking the floor at 6:30 p.m.
