Herd Tennis Finishes Play at the ITA Atlantic Regional

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Marshall University Tennis finished action at the ITA Atlantic Regional on Sunday with senior Johanna Strom's singles run ending in the Quarterfinals.

Strom, the seventh seed, defeated Virginia's Alston Myatt and WVU's Julie Bousseau in straight sets in the first two rounds before taking down ninth-seeded Emma Ghiradato in a three-set contest in the Round of 16. The native of Sweden fell to No. 3 Vivian Yang of Virginia in the Quarterfinals.

Strom combined with Alina Mokrynskaya as No. 9 pairing in doubles reaching the Round of 16 and falling to No. 2 seed Annabelle Xu/Martina Genis Sala of Virginia in a tiebreak.

Thalia Smith and Nour El Ouazzani each picked up a pair of wins to reach the Main Draw in singles as Mokrynskaya took her opening Main Draw singles match.
