HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Women's Basketball team has announced it will host local middle and elementary schools in celebration of Education Day on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. at Cam Henderson Center where the Herd women take on App State for its SBC opener.
Complimentary admission will be provided to the students, staff and chaperones of attending schools. Students and chaperones are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Each school will have its own seating section at the Henderson Center and will be given an educational packet to complete while at the game.
"Marshall Education Day was such a memorable experience for our students and staff," said Lauren Werthammer, principal of Martha Elementary. "For many of our students, it was their first time on Marshall's campus, and getting to cheer on the Women's Basketball team made it even more special. We're grateful for the opportunity to connect our kids with The Herd and can't wait to continue this tradition next year! Go Herd!"
Educational programming will be focused on the educational components of basketball, which includes science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Advance registration is required for schools wishing to participate in Education Day. For registration details or inquiries, please contact Laurin Bentley at bentley80@marshall.edu
