Marshall Athletics Shatters Overall GPA Record With 3.42 In Fall 2025

Seven different Herd programs established new Team GPA records this semester
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Athletics established its highest overall semester GPA as a department with a 3.42 Overall GPA for the Fall 2025 semester, which officially ended last week.
In all, Marshall had 84 student-athletes make the President's List (4.0 GPA) and 192 of its student-athletes earn the Dean's List distinction (3.3 or above).
"This is an incredible accomplishment and speaks to the dedication of our student-athletes to achieve academic success," said Gerald J. Harrison, Marshall Vice President and Director of Athletics. "Having seven of our programs establish records in Team GPA shows their commitment to the Herd Mentality. I'm proud of the athletes, their coaching staffs and the tremendous staff at The Buck for this awesome achievement."
Marshall Women's Golf led the way of all sport programs with a 3.97 Team GPA which re-established their previous top mark. Other women's programs setting new marks included Women's Soccer (3.76) and Women's Basketball (3.58). Women's Track & Field also tied their previous mark with a 3.42.
Marshall Men's Cross Country led five men's programs who established new semester-bests with a record-breaking 3.66 Team GPA. Other sport programs breaking records included Men's Soccer (3.60), Baseball (3.46), Men's Track & Field (3.40) and Football (3.18).
"Marshall student-athletes continue to set the standard in the classroom, posting the highest departmental GPA on record," said Kaylyn Torain, Assistant Athletic Director for Academics. "The Buck staff is extremely proud of the hard work that they put into their school work and their sport!"
